Snapshots from Vineyard Tour BBQ

What a joy to have great wine, the best BBQ, and the finest company amid the beautiful surrounds of Bill and Betty Broll’s  hilltop estate! The annual CWA Vineyard Tour on July 22, led by the renowned Dr. Jim Wolpert of UC Davis fame, was followed with “the” barbecue. Here Dr. Jim told us, “I end up talking less every year because everyone here gets smarter and I stay the same.” Not so, but the laughter was contagious.

Dr. Wolpert also announced that Calaveras County wineries took home 20 medals this year from the California State Fair.  “Don’t lose the culture of Calaveras – ride the high tide and you’ll go with it. Let’s go fro 40 medals next year!”

  • Twisted Oak Concert Series!
    What: Twisted Folk 2013 Summer Concert Series Where: Twisted Oak Winery, 4280 Red Hill Rd at Highway 4, Vallecito (in Calaveras County between Angels Camp and Murphys) When: May – August, 2013 Tickets and more information: www.twistedoak.com/concerts All concerts begin at 7:30pm, gates open at 6:30pm. Hot food and Twisted Oak wines will be available for purchase. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring a blanket and/or low-back chair for seating. All shows will be held rain or shine.   • 'A Taste of Casablanca'
    April 13th from 3pm - 6pm Tanner Vineyards and Yankee Hill Cooking School are hosting a French and Moroccan themed masterclass. This is a hands on lesson where we create classics such as Beef Bourguignon, Chicken Tagine and Crepe Suzette and more!. The lessons end by sitting down to the wonderful dinner we have created. Tanner wines will be poured throughout the event. The price will be $55 per person or $50 per wine club member.   • Sierra Foothills Artisan Cheese and Wine Festival
    Held at Lavender Ridge Winery and Vineyards on Hunt Road in Copperopolis. Saturday May 4th, 2013 Hours from 12pm - 4pm Tickets General Public - $40 Wine Club Members - $30 Lavender Ridge Vineyard is pleased to announce its second annual Sierra Foothills Artisan Cheese and Wine Festival. The event will be held on Saturday May 4th from 12pm – 4pm. Farmstead cheese will be available for tasting along with local and regional cheese makers as special guests describing their history, production practices, facility and what it truly means to craft an “Artisan Cheese”.
