Chatom Vineyards has become known as the jewel of Calaveras County not only for its award-winning reputation of handcrafted wines, but also for the relationships that develop once you enter the tasting room. The staff at Chatom has been primarily made of women and it is their quiet elegance, unique sense of humor, and charming style that adds feeling to the meaning of jewel.  Of course, none of this would exist if it were not for Gay Callan (the owner) who in 1981 decided to pursue her dreams and planted the Esmeralda vineyard.  Since then, the dream has become a very successful reality and has gone from producing 1,500 to 10,000 cases a year.  Chatom’s growth has led to exciting new ideas like the “She Wines,” which were created to symbolize and honor the women of today.  The She Wine’s popularity and success inspired Chatom to donate partial proceeds of the She Wines Red to Heart Disease Research for Women and partial proceeds of the She Wines White to Breast Cancer Research.  Therefore, Chatom is a winery you won’t want to miss and invites you to visit the complimentary tasting room to enjoy the “Chatom Experience,” while becoming a member of the “Chatom Family.”
