Dr. Albert Michelson, the first American ever to earn the Nobel Prize (1907-Physics) lived in Murphys when he was a child. Over 150 years later, the Twisted Oak Winery tasting room is in Dr. Michelson's former home! Visit the historic downtown location with its rich history and beautiful heirloom gardens. Or visit the Twisted Oak Winery vineyard location with sweeping vistas of grapevines and mountains. Twisted Oak features fine wines made from Spanish and Rhône varietals grown in the Sierra Foothills. Bring a picnic to enjoy at either location, and the "Twisted Staff" will introduce you to their top-rated wines and their rubber chickens!
