Smith Vineyards

Smith Vineyards

As identified on the CWA website, Smith Vineyards is a small vineyard operation located at about 2800 feet in elevation in West Point, northern Calaveras County. We produce small quantities of premium grapes (3-4 tons of Zinfandel from our “Three Daughters Vineyard”, and about one ton, give or take depending on the year, of Alicante Bouschet from our “Old Victorian Vineyard”). For the past 4 years, we have been sourcing our grapes to Karine Wines (Madera/Fresno Counties). Nick DeHart, owner of Karine Wines has been our winemaker. Nick’s focus at Karine is to make the best single vineyard expression wines possible from grapes grown in the Sierra Nevada Foothills. Over the past 4 years Karine wines produced from our vineyard have received scores of 88 points, 89 points, 91 points, and 93 points + Editors Choice from Wine Enthusiast Magazine.

The reason for this posting is that Karine is in the process of building a new wine facility in Madera County and will not have the capability of producing wine from our grapes in 2021. As of August 21st, both of our vineyards have been netted for bird protection.  We are currently seeking buyers for our 2021 crop and potentially beyond. If you have any interest in our grapes, or know of someone who might, please contact us As Soon As Possible!  Thank You!
